Convergent Manufacturing Technologies, Inc., is a British Columbia technology company. Incorporated in 1998, Convergent currently has two offices in Vancouver, both located on the Point Grey peninsula of Vancouver.
Convergent’s vision is a world where composites manufacturing is a low risk activity in all phases from initial design to production, and it’s mission is to provide the software and associated technologies to make this a reality.
Convergent’s products include sophisticated software and hardware used for computer simulation and evaluation of manufacturing risk in producing complex composite structures used in the aerospace industry. Typical computer simulation covers thermal analysis; flow and porosity analysis; and residual stress and distortion analysis.
Convergent is a spin-off from the Composites Group at The University of British Columbia. Convergent continues to have strong links with the Composites Group at UBC and the UBC led Composites Research Network where Convergent is a tier II member.
Convergent staff and facilities are completely separate from the University. The focus at Convergent is products and services that fulfil immediate and short term proprietary industrial needs, whereas the UBC Composites Group has a mandate for longer term, open research.
