Convergent Manufacturing Technologies is exhibiting at SAMPE 2023 in Seattle, WA on April 18-19, 2023.
We welcome you to our booth, #J32 at the Seattle Convention Center Summit building . Come see our live product demos!
From 2017 through 2020, Convergent Manufacturing Technologies participated in the EUREKA/ITEA3 VMAP project with 28 industrial partners from Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. This project created the first version of a data exchange standard for computer aided engineering (CAE), which will help reduce the time and costs associated with modern simulation-based design and manufacturing practices. Convergent led the “Composites in Aerospace” Use Case – one of six demonstrator Use Cases within the project – and focused on ensuring the VMAP standard benefited composites process simulation workflows. In cooperation with project partners, this included the development of VMAP wrappers for Abaqus and ANSYS, as well as the support of the VMAP file format in Convergent’s own RAVEN software.
On September 15th, 2021, the VMAP project was awarded the ITEA Award of Excellence for Standardization. This award was presented by Zeynep Sarilar, ITEA Chairwoman, who said:
“The ITEA project VMAP has outstanding outcomes that will fasten the digitalisation process of all industries. Now the impact of VMAP project has been extended by an association, VMAP Standards Community, that is a proof of the high-level dedication of the VMAP consortium. I am very happy and hopeful for the future with this new initiative.”
Convergent is a Founding Member of the VMAP Standards Community, the not-for-profit organization formed after the VMAP project concluded. VMAP-SC will continue the project’s mission of developing a vendor-neutral standard for CAE data storage and transfer to enhance interoperability in virtual engineering workflows.
